With Beck, plus Queens of the Stone Age, Lambrini Girls, The Big Moon, Walt Disco and more.
Over the course of DIY’s 15 years in print (not to mention the nine online before that), we’ve been lucky enough to have some truly bucket list names grace our cover. And this month, we’re thrilled to be ticking off another - that’s right, it’s our great pleasure to welcome sonic shape-shifter Beck to front our October 2026 issue! For over three decades, he’s been a flagbearer for consistent innovation, having turned his hand to alt-rock, folk, funk, hip hop, electronica, country and more across 15 acclaimed studio albums. This month, we sit down with the certified musical legend to discuss legacy, new record ‘Ride Lonesome’, and how, 30 years into the game, he feels like he’s only just getting started.
Elsewhere in the October mag, we discover how the philosophy of finding beauty in breakage has informed Queens Of The Stone Age’s new album; catch up with New York noiseniks BODEGA; find Lambrini Girls once again fighting the good fight; and herald the mighty return of The Big Moon with open arms. Our In Deep digital cover sees Orville Peck open up about addiction, recovery, and new album ‘Mule’, and we’ll also be chatting to Essex powerhouse Chrissi, Glasgow art-rockers walt disco, and former DIY Class of… alumni Nieve Ella and Chloe Slater to mark the arrival of their respective debut albums.
Over in our regular new music section - aka Neu - we meet RIP Magic, June McDoom, and SILVERWINGKILLER, while elsewhere, we give you the lowdown on the 2026 Mercury Prize Newcastle and offer up the DIY verdict on all of the month’s biggest releases - including Fontaines D.C., Jamie T, Remi Wolf, Pet Shop Boys and many more.
